The lesson on September 6, 2020 was part 12 of “John’s Gospel”.  This lesson was prepared in quarantine for corona virus precautions.  Chapter 12 still covers the enormous gap between the 7th and 8th signs in the gospel of John.  Wayne reflected on John 2:22  that said “When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered”.  With remembrance comes joy, comfort and service that we can take note of this within our family (Philippians. 1:4, 25; 2:2, 17-18; 4:1; John 15:11). We have all this joy of faith because Christ was raised from the dead.  One of the big things that are going on between these two signs is the ministry to his disciples with the goal being expressed in chapter 17.  There is this parenthesis in this chapter 13-16 of John are preparatory and foundational explaining the goal of chapter 17 similar to what PAul did in Ephesians when he prayed with an imbeded parenthesis of detail in Ephesians 3:1-13.  The scripture reading was from John 17:4-8 KJV

“4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. 7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. 8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.”
