The lesson taught on December 17, 2023 was part 18 of the “Wisdom” study.  We reviewed what was taught in the previous lesson (now with visuals) and proceeded into Proverbs 17.  This part of Proverbs covers the personal contentment and peace that comes from the wisdom we receive.  We looked at the word “contentment” from the following verses: Prov. 17:2; Prov. 17:5; Prov. 17:8; Prov. 17:16; Prov. 17:19; Prov. 17:22-24. We further looked at a “forbearing spirit” in these passages: Prov. 17:4; Prov. 17:9-15; Prov. 17:17; Prov. 17:19-20; Prov. 17:26. Wayne took time to explain the “gifts” that were mentioned in the chapter and enlightened us how they were describing how they may be used as bribes to impact a man that is not following after wisdom.

The scripture reading was from Proverbs 17:1-4 KJV” 1 Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife. 2 A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren. 3 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts. 4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.”
