The lesson on October 15, 2023 was part 9 of the “Wisdom” study. Proverbs chapter 8 is the focus of this lesson.  We saw that Proverbs 8:1-9:12 is the call of lady Wisdom and it transitions to the Foolish Woman from Proverbs 9:13-18 KJV.  Wayne briefly mentioned what we learned from chapter 7 and reminded us that wisdom personified is feminine and she calls to us early.  We see that the Lord speaks to the simple and foolish but doesn’t dismiss them but calls to them.  When Proverbs 8:6 points out the “excellent things” of wisdom.  This resonates with our calling in right division.  The concordance of the word “excellent” in the New Testament are these verses: Matt. 6:26; 10:31; 12:12; Mk. 11:16; Lk. 12:7, 24; Acts 13:49; 27:27; Rom. 2:18; 1 Cor. 15:41; Gal. 2:6; 4:1; Phil. 1:10.  The pinnacle of Wisdom is found in Philippians 1:10, where the summit of wisdom and knowledge if revealed in the mystery, which is excellent! We then focused on Proverbs 8:22 where it is explained that Wisdom was “possessed” in the beginning and was brought forth to us like a birth.  God always had wisdom. He spoke all things into being. This passage does not teach that wisdom was created.

The scripture reading was from Proverbs 8:1-9 KJV “1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? 2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. 3 She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. 4 Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. 5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. 6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. 7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. 9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.”
