Lessons

The lesson on March 27, 2022 was part 1 and the introduction to the new series entitled “Running the Race”.  It will be based of a book called “Perfection or Perdition” written by C.H. Welch with an introduction by Stuart Allen.  In this introduction, we cover the author of Hebrews being the Apostle Paul by the internal evidence in scripture.  There are some who claim it was written by another because the beginning of the book doesn’t have the traditional Pauline introduction but it was explained that Paul sent Galatians as a cover letter along with Hebrews, thereby not needing to have the standard introduction.  If Paul didn’t write it, it was probably through an Amanuensis (like Rom. 16:22).  It may have been Luke, Silvanus (Silas) but it is clearly written from the mind of Paul.  We will see that through the comparison of Philippians.  It also is showing that by including Hebrews as one of Paul’s books, it completes the factor of seven which is predominant through scripture (e.g. 7 books written during Acts, 7 books written after Acts).  The structure of Hebrews was presented as a foundation for this study.  The scripture reading was from Hebrews 6:1-6 KJV

“1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”
