Lessons

This lesson was taught on May 24, 2020 and was part 56 of the “Genesis” study.  Wayne introduces the linkage of the resurrections to the three phases of Jesus Christ second coming.  He takes us back to Genesis 15:5-6 KJV where God explained to Abraham how He will give him an heir “5  And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. 6  And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” The apostle Paul then elaborates and fills in more detail that we hadn’t thought about. Wayne expresses his idea that the key to understand the timing of the resurrections sits with Abraham.  He then draws out a timeline on the whiteboard to show his idea and the issues that it brings up.  Wayne suggests by implication when PAul writes in Colossians 3:4 KJV “4  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” there is a resurrection for us and he spends time looking at the out-ressurection, when PAul said f If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. (Philippians 3:11KJV)  Wayne also spends time pointing out when the other resurrections occur in relation to the second coming of Christ. The biggest issue was identified as to the timing of our special resurrection as it relates to the appearing of Christ.   Finally at the end of this lesson, he takes questions from the assembly. The scripture reading was from Hebrews 11:8-16 KJV

“8  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9  By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10  For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 11  Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. 12  Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. 13  These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14  For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15  And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16  But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
