The lesson on November 2, 2014 was part 7 of the “First Corinthians” study.  Continuing in chapter two, the lesson this week provides a recap of verses 1-6 but spends the rest of the time on clarifying what mystery is being identified in verse 7.  There is an article for each lesson that is taught on First Corinthians and this identifies the 27 times the word “mystery” appears in the New Testament.  As a student of scripture, we must take a look and understand all the mysteries or secrets that are spoken of in scripture.  The mystery of 1 Corinthians 2:7 takes us to Matthew 13 and eventually to Isaiah 29.  This mystery in Corinthians involves two groups: Those that can hear and understand and those who don’t understand because they are not chosen to receive it.  There is no way that the mystery in 1 Corinthians 2:7 is the same mystery of Ephesians 3:9 and Colossians 1:25,26. Comparing the two mysteries makes this apparent.  The scripture reading was in 1 Corinthians 2:7 KJV “7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:”
