Lessons

The lesson on July 5, 2020 was part 3 of the “John’s Gospel” study.  Today’s lesson covered the third chapter of the book “Life Through His Name” by Charles Welch.  Wayne spent a few minutes reviewing the motivation behind this study then continued the lesson looking the “Welsherian” view of Acts 28 and his perspective on the three sendings of Matthew 22.  Charles Welch takes a hard position on the Acts 28 transition to Israel being LoAmmi (as opposed to what Wayne has established with his Acts 29 study and perspective).  Wayne then focused on answering these questions: Why so many witnesses called on? Were there any miracles done by the child Jesus? Was John Elijah? Why the emphasis on Baptism? Who was Nathanael – and how was his testimony significant? Did Jesus fill all six water pots with wine? What does the sign “signify”?  What sign does the first sign correspond with?  The scripture reading was from Deuteronomy 18:18 KJV.

18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
