The lesson on September 20, 2020 was part 14 of “John’s Gospel” study. This week, Wayne takes us through the prayer the Jesus makes to the Father in chapter 17 of John.  We have learned that there is a parenthesis between chapter 13 and 17, where in 13:1-3 the theme is commenced the “hour has come”. Then in John 13:4 thru 16:33 the parenthesis consists of the disciples being instructed, encouraged and prepared and then in 17:1 the “hour has come” theme is resumed.  We has seen a similar parenthesis in Ephesians 3:1-13 is a parenthesis of thought between the prayer of the Apostle PAul.  The Scripture reading was from John 17:24-26 KJV

“24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
