Lessons

The lesson on March 8, 2020 was part 46 of the “Genesis” study. This week Wayne looked at what Peter said about the days of Noah in 1 Peter 3:20-21 KJV “20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”.  In this passage Peter describes that there were eight souls saved by water.  He then expounded on what baptism does to save us in verse 21.  Wayne then takes the rest of the lesson to study baptism. He used the Companion Bible Appendix 115 as source material and suggested we use it to study.  We learn that you need to understand what it meant and in what context.  In the end Wayne emphasizes that in our dispensation under the Mystery, there is one baptism which provides us salvation by the power of the operation of God.  The scripture reading was from Colossians 1:25-29 KJV

“25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; 26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: 29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.”
