Leland Maples runs the LOOP’s Ministries (Loved Ones Of Prisoners) and leads a Thursday night bible study held in the Rec Room at Life Change Baptist Church in Odessa Texas.  The Rec Room message on Thursday, November 11, 2010 was entitled “Christ and the Cross” and was given by Leland.  In this message we learn why Christ and the cross go together.  Some preach Christ without the cross.  Some preach the cross without Christ.  In scripture, there are two things revealed about Christ and the cross:  A.  God’s hatred for sin, and B. God’s love for the sinner.  There were three scripture passages covered during this message.  1 Corinthians 1:18, 23 KJV “18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;” Galatians 6:14 KJV “14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Philippians 3:18 KJV “18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:”.
