Audio for Various Lessons by Dr. Clifford McLain

Psalm 23

This lesson was taught by Dr. McLain sometime in 1971. It is a comforting study of the 23rd Psalm and gives a new perspective to a beautiful Psalm taught by one who knew his Lord. The scripture is Psalm 23 KJV: "A Psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort...

Getting to Know Him

This lesson was given my Pastor Clifford McLain in 1980 and it was titled "Getting to Know Him" and it covered Philippians chapter 3:8-10 KJV "8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the...

Resurrection (Easter) Message

This lesson from the archives was taught on April 6, 1980 by Pastor Clifford McLain on Resurrection Day.  In this message, Dr. McLain recounts his trip to Israel when he visited the empty tomb himself. He addresses those who doubt the resurrection and shares what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15 KJV.  He also speaks to how all the religious leaders of the world lay in their tombs. Christianity is different because our tomb is empty. The scripture reading was from John 20:1-10 KJV. "1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the...

Psalm 139 - The End and The Beginning

This lesson was taught by Dr. McLain on December 28, 1980 and is a particularly comforting chapter for Christians of any age.  Dr. McLain titled this sermon "The End and The Beginning. It is a picture of God's awesome love and power.  He answers questions about the origin of man and tells us of His omnipresence, His omnipotence, and His great love for man--his 'embroidery.' What joy we can have knowing that our Great God is always there with us no matter where we may take Him.

The text is Psalm 139 (KJV): "O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting...

Prophecy

This lesson deals with prophecy surrounding the nation Israel.  It was taught in an informal Bible study, an "around the table discussion," with a very small study group on August 9, 1981.  The Bible passages are found in the following:  Ezekial 20:33-34 KJV: "33 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: 34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I...

Peace

This lesson was given by Dr. McLain on January 1, 1984. Peace is what everyone speaks about and wants but no one has in a worldly sense. There is the peace "of" God and peace "with" God. Every man who has accepted Crist as his saviour has peace with God--On God's terms. God didn't give peace to the world, but peace on earth to men of good will. In this life there is constant warfare for your mind. The peace of the world lies in its pleasures, however, the peace of God begins with the fact that the warfare is over. Christ did it all. The scripture is John 14:1-31 and selected verses...

Headship of Christ

This lesson was taught by Dr. McLain on April 8, 1984. He reminds us that we are complete in Christ. We have died with Him and are now seated in the heavenlies. The scripture is found in Colossians 2:8 through 3:4 KJV: "8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in...

The Crucifixion

This lesson was taught by Dr. McLain on April 15, 1984. In this lesson, Mac refers to the poem "A Dead Man Walks With Me".  The scripture is Matthew 27:33-50 KJV: "33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, 34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet...

Job

This lesson was taught by Dr. McLain on November 25, 1984. The scripture is found in Job 32:1 through Job 33:6 KJV: "1 So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes. 2 Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God. 3 Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job. 4 Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he. 5 When Elihu saw...

Christians' Citizenship and Christians' Walk

This lesson was taught by Dr. McLain on December 2, 1984. The scripture is Ephesians 2:1-10 KJV: "1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his...
