Secrets (Mysteries) Revealed in Scripture

Secrets Revealed

This study was presented in November and December of 1986.  There are several mysteries or secrets mentioned throughout the scriptures.  In many instances, people tend to lump them all into one subject rather than discerning the differences in context.  Dr. McLain has presented this study to shed light on the various secrets and to discern which of these apply to us in today's dispensation.

This study began November 9, 1986.  The text is Colossians 1:10-29 (KJV):  "10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his

Part 2 of this study discusses the revealed plan of God and His hidden purpose.  The scripture reading is Ephesians 1:3 KJV;
"3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:"
Ephesians 2:6: "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"  Colossians 3:1-11: "1 If ye then be
risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  2 Set your affection on things above, not on

This lesson is Part 3 of the study "God's Will" and deals with the subject of the timing of the Lord's return.  The scripture is found in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 KJV:
"1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled,
neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come,

This lesson is Part 4 and gets into the subject of "The Mystery" compared with "A Mystery."  The scripture reading is Romans 16:25-27 KJV: "25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen."

This lesson is Part 5 of the series and continues in the comparison between "The Mystery" and "other mysteries."  Paul tells us that "the Mystery" is the capstone of all other mysteries.
This lesson covers the "miracle movement" both in Paul's time as well as the current time.  The scripture is found in 1 Corinthians 13:8-13 KJV: "8 Charity never faileth: but whether there
be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.  9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when
