- The full inspiration of the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16) that they were written by holy men of God who were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21).
- The responsiblity of each believer to live a life worthy of the Lord pleasing Him in every way by bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10; Ephesians 2:10).
- The study of the Scriptures as enlightened by the Holy Spirit, Who bears testimony through them to the Lord Jesus Christ, is the sure foundation for the continual growth in faith which is a necessity for every believer; for faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17; 1 Corinthians 2:6-16).
- Whilst acknowledging the Lord’s gift of teachers to His people (Epheasians 4:11) we maintain that Scripture is the sole arbiter in matters of Christian doctrine and practice and that received traditions and opinions, however widespread or ancient and however vigorously supported by men of whatever eminence, learning and godliness, are of no binding authority except in so far as they are clearly demonstrable from the Word of God (Romans 10:17; 1 Peter 1:24-25).
