The lesson on November 21, 2010 was on Thanksgiving. The scripture of Colossians 4:2-6 KJV which says "2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; 3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. 5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Be Ye Thankful. In the Colossians study, we saw that the Apostle Paul was expressing that we be thankful for everything the God the Father has done for us in His son Christ Jesus. We often take that for granted and forget that we should be thankful. What is being thankful mean? Noah Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary contains the greatest number of Biblical definitions given in any reference volume. Webster considered "education useless without the Bible". Noah Webster believed that the Bible and Christianity played important roles in the lives of a free people and its government.
A Psalms of Thanksgiving. The lesson on November 19, 2006 takes a break from an audio series and gives a topical lesson on Psalms 100 to celebrate Thanksgiving which comes on the third Thursday in November each year. Psalms 100 (KJV) says: 1. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4.
The lesson on November 23, 2003 was on Thanksgiving. The scripture reading was in 1 Timothy 1:12 KJV "12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;" Listen now to a message on Thanksgiving.
Strive Not. The aim of the enemy, according to2 Timothy 2:16, is to subvert the hearer and snare the believer. Yet God gives the Christian good instructions on how to deal with it as believers in Christ. The workman that is not ashamed has studied the scripture and practices right division. Paul also encourages Timothy to commit certain “things” to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also. What things? Don’t be ashamed of Paul’s specific ministry called “the mystery”. Further, be strong in the grace that is in Christ and recognize the completeness we have in Him.
The holiday season is here and the lesson on 11-19 continues the series on Right Division with the fourth lesson.
