The lesson on January 2, 2011 was for New Year's 2011 and it was entitled "Pursuing the Joy". The scripture reading was in Philippians 3:13,14 KJV "13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." This was an excellent lesson for the New Year because the Apostle Paul tells us how to pursue the joy in Christ.
The lesson on January 9, 2011 continued the series entitled "From the Beginning" with part 23. The scripture reading for this lesson was in Romans 15:4-14 KJV "4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. 8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: 9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
The lesson for January 16, 2011 was on the fact that God has a plan. We learn that His plan is good and it is for our participation. In this lesson it talks about the revealed plan of God and His hidden purpose which is called "the Mystery" from Ephesians 3:9 and Colossians 1:25,26. The scripture reading was from Romans 8:28 KJV "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." The lesson on January 30, 2011 continued the series "From the Beginning" with part 2 of the series. The scripture reading for this lesson was the same the last one Matthew 3:1-6 KJV. The previous lesson spent time on the phrase "In those days..." to expound on what that meant from a Jewish perspective. The lesson speaks about the differences between Covenant and Dispensation theologists. When we get to the teaching in Matthew, we find it is the same message that was in the Old Testament. If Israel would turn and repent, then the New Covenant would be implemented which was promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34. We learn now God has included the Gentiles with faithful Abraham to provoke Israel to jealousy. Time was taken to understand the "Kingdom" that was to be given to Israel. An analogy was made between the study of scripture through right division and the skills to solve jig saw puzzles. We also learn when Jesus started picking up the ministry of John in Matthew 11:1-7.
The lesson on February 13, 2011 continued the series "From the Beginning" with part 26. The lesson began with comments on Valentines Day and the turmoil in Egypt before it got back with the study. Matthew 11: 7-19 KJV was the scripture reading: "7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. 9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet?

The lesson on February 27, 2010 was a break from the study "From the Beginning" and took a side study to look at the word "kingdom". We find in scripture that there a many "kingdoms" and we need to take the time to identify them and compare the differences for the purpose of learning which one applies to whom. Before the lesson started an example was given in a sentence: "I enjoy being in my car, eating a candy bar while listening to the radio." The lesson on March 6, 2011 was provided by Leland Maples who spoke on "Redeeming the Time". Leland refered to Ephesians 5:16 KJV "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil." First we received an update on the LOOPS Ministry prior to getting into the lesson. If we went back to the beginning of time, we find a day is measured by a day and the evening. The month is measured by the rotation of the sun, as well as the year. Science can measure time by these elements but God is the only one that can measure a week. There are so many time savers now a days...
The lesson on March 13, 2011 continued the study From the Beginning with part 28 of the series. The scripture reading was in John 21:25 KJV "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Leland Maples runs the LOOP's Ministries (Loved Ones Of Prisoners) and leads a Thursday night bible study held in the Rec Room at Life Change Baptist Church in Odessa Texas. The Rec Room message on Thursday, March 17, 2011 was a testimony by Steve Southern who is an ex-inmate who now serves the Lord in many ways. Steve in an area manager for Key Energy, which is a large oil field firm and has provided jobs for many men coming out of prison. Steve is a long time friend of the REC-Room and continues to minister in prison.

The lesson on April 17, 2011 started the celebration of the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service. The lesson on June 19, 2011 was celebrating Fathers Day and opened up with the scripture reading in Psalms 78:1-8 KJV "1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: 8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God." This lesson also covered the parable in Luke 15 which is normally refered to as the parable of the prodigal son... but this message looks at it from the perspective of the loving father.

The lesson on July 3, 2011 was a lesson celebrating Independence Day in America with a look at "Pivotal Points in Life" and opened with the scripture reading in 1 Corinthians 2:1-8 KJV "1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."
The lesson on July 10, 2011 was part 2 of the study "Before the Beginning" and opened up with the scripture reading in Ephesians 3:1-5 KJV "1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward: 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;". This lesson provided a good review and then dived into the mystery, which was revealed to the apostle Paul by direct revelation from God.
The lesson on July 17, 2011 was entitled "Contemporary Christians" and was given by guest teacher Leland Maples of the LOOPs Ministry. Leland looked at Obadiah who was part of King Ahab's court. Most like to read of the fight Elijah has with the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel but Leland takes the time to consider Obadiah and how his behavior reflects that of contemporary christians today. The scripture reading was from 1 Kings 18:1-19 KJV "1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. 2 And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria. 3 And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly: 4 For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.) 5 And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts. 6 So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself. 7 And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah? 8 And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
The lesson on July 24, 2011 asked the question "What is Heaven Like?" and opened up with the scripture reading in Genesis 1:1-8 KJV "1 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day."
The lesson on July 31, 2011 was part 3 of the "Before the Beginning" study and opened up with the scripture reading from Colossians 1:24-29 KJV "24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: 25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; 26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: 29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily."

The lesson on August 21, 2011 was part 6 of the "Before the Beginning" study and started with the scripture reading in Ephesians 5:14-17 KJV "14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
The lesson on August 28, 2011 was part 7 of the "Before the Beginning" study and opened up with the scripture reading from Philippians 1:1-6 KJV "1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: 2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; 6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"
The lesson on September 11, 2011 honored the 10 year anniversary of the terrorist attack on America in New York and Washington DC on September 11, 2011. Ten years ago 19 Al-Qaeda terrorist coordinated four attacks by hijacking passenger planes and flying them into the two World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon. The fourth plane was commandeered again by the passengers and crashed in Western Pennsylvania prior to reaching its intended target. This lesson opens with a remembrance about that event 10 years ago and then teaches about prayer by using the acronym P.R.A.Y. which stands for praying Persistantly, Respectfully, Authoritatively, and Yearningly and there were scripture examples to go with each letter. The scripture reading was in Philippians 4:4-7 KJV "4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
The lesson on September 18, 2011 was part 8 of the "Before the Beginning" study and it finished the series. The scripture reading was from Acts 17:1-11 KJV "1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: 2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, 3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. 4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few. 5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; 7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus. 8 And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.
