Introduction:

Last time we looked at the age times and how the ends of the ages fell on those in the Acts period and NOT US! We shall now continue with verse 12

Last time we looked at the first 10 verses of 1 Cor. 15 which talks about the foundation of the gospel. We noted that there is an awkward "if" in the salvation condition which we discovered expressed the fact that the gospel that was received and in which the Corinthian believers stood would result in salvation if they held in what word Paul preached to them. Paul clearly received by revelation the gospel and yet it was also according to scriptures. We also learnt abouty the untimely birth (abortion) mentioned in vs 8.

Introduction

Last lesson we looked at verses 7:17-20. The major point brought out was that upon salvation Jews were to remain Jews and Gentiles were to remain Gentiles. The last verse in the sequence says

20  (AV) Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
20  (TR) εκαστος εν τη κλησει η εκληθη εν ταυτη μενετω

Literally "Each in the calling in which he was called in this let him remain" -- this is very different to the message of PAul the prisoner to those who respond to the gospel of the unsearchable riches who live in the current age. To those of us who have responded to this message we have equality in a more pervasive sense since national distinctions have been laid aside and a new man created. With the new man has come a new and different unity that we need to keep (see Eph 4:1-5).

Free GiftWhen we consider the wonder of God, His infinity, and the glory of His awesome majesty, we must ask ourselves the question, "How can we ever comprehend Him?" But this unfathomable God, whose ways are described as being past finding out, has provided a way by which we can come to know enough about Him that is life saving to our mortal sinful souls. He has shed His light and His love; and this is bound up in the doctrine of Christ (2 John 9).  Click read more to learn about your free gift.

Introduction:

Last time we looked at the nature of how the annointing worked in the acts of the apostles and specifically the baptism which the Spirit of God performed and was active in. We noted that there is a complete correspondence between the events of 1Cor 12 and 1 Cor 10 where a baptism unto Moses was recounted. The connection to Israel and her spiritual things was made clear.

In this lesson we will examine the body at Corinth and its membership.

Introduction

In part 1 we looked at the first 9 verses of chapter 1 where we learn't a great deal about the context and economy in which Paul was labouring. Many contrasts were shown between the Acts age and ours. These were necessarily drawn in order to distinguish our own calling with the Corunthian's and to show the movement of the Spirit from His Acts signs and wonders confirmatory work to a new ministry of unveiling the Mystery.

Introduction

Last week we looked at Chapter 5:1-8 - a chapter that has parallels in the book of Revelation. Under the figure of a "rod", Paul warns them of impending discipline unless they change (implied in the question "what will ye?") their conduct. The apostles gifts were awesome and powerful and to sin against the holy Ghost could be met with death as the punishment. (See Acts 5:1-11, 1 Cor. 11).

Are we seeing these things today in this age? Surely we must say "No!!" -- and if this is so why not? It has been our labour to show the reader why these things are not happenning today and give a full and clear explanation of the Biblical account without the admixture of man's philosophy or eisogesis. The momentous events around Acts 28 cannot be over emphasized and we as students of the scriptures must clarify and teach the contextual truths that bring to light the revelation given to PAul the prisoner.

Introduction:

Last time we looked at the fact that the cup of blessing used in the communion is likely something new to the passover feast. A tradition that was installed prior to Christ and which the Lord re-interpreted in light of the New Covenant. In this lesson we will take the discussion further as Paul takes us into teaching that can be best understood by the times then present.

The importance of the resurrection of Christ has many facets.  In today's talk we shall look at the topic of the logic of the resurrection of Christ.

Introduction

Last time we looked at 1 Cor.2:1-9. The passages have many applications and we can learn so much about ideas related to the wisdom of this world and its limitations. However, we need now to look at the more precise context of these passages if we are to understand the intent of the author and gain from them (the passages) what doctrine God intended to pass on to the believers lest we confound those things that differ. What "mystery" is Paul referring to? Those who deny the truth of the great divide of Acts 28 and its impact on the understanding of Paul's Acts books will also confound the mysteries. In this lesson we shall look at what the mystery of 1 Cor 2:7 is and obtain from the context a more precise understanding of Paul's intent and meaning.
