The Mystery, Its Prophetic Content"THE MYSTERY" - Its Prophetic Content (I Tim. 4:1-5; II Tim. 3:1-9)  PART I.  "Now the Spirit in spoken words says that in the latter times (specific) some will depart (apostasize) the faith, attending to seducing (planetary) spirits and teachings of demons, in men of hypocrisy speaking lies having been branded on their own conscience; forbidding to marry, to abstain from foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them who believe and know the truth. Because every creature is good and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer." (Free Translation - I Tim. 4:1-5 - very literal.)

"THE MYSTERY" Private Mail for the Saint (The Initiate) - Eph. 1:4; 3:8,9; Col. 1:25,26

There are other Greek words which also mean "a secret". However, (as will be seen), "the Mystery" meaning "a secret," is not a translation but rather a transliteration of the Greek word, "musterion" which is truly unique, that is, concerning the definition. Thus at the outset, here are a few facts which should be helpful as an overview for a complete understanding about the private mail in this context.

First and foremost, "the Mystery" (a body of many truths) is addressed to His saints (Col. 1:26) for Faith-Obedience in their walk (Eph. 2:10; Col. 2:6, 4:1-7). Hence, the response (the saint's personal faith), either yea or nay, demonstrates, "the initiate," those " chosen (elected) in Christ, before the foundation (Greek word, katabole, overthrow) of the world." (Eph.1:4). In other words, an election from within "the Elect" - - think about it!{C}

"THE MYSTERY (SECRET) OF CHRIST" as is NOW REVEALED - EPH. 3:4, 5 Whether one considers "Christ" in the revealed plan of God or in His hidden purpose, He -- and He alone - - arrests the attention like no other person or subject to be found in all of the scripture. Even in the secular world, among friends or foes, in the highest circles and in the lowest levels of humanity, He is. In the affirmative, in the negative, and the neutral or whatever - - He just is!

Inasmuch as we shall be observing the changing ages and dispensations in this study, we desire to share with you the two major divisions derived from God's spoken word, i.e., the revealed plan and the hidden purpose.

"Through faith we understand that the ages were framed - (marked off, prepared) by a fiat of God, so that the things (ages and dispensations) as they appear were not evolved one from the other." (Heb. 11:3 - FREE TRANSLATION).{C}

"THE MYSTERY" Its Reality, The Practical Side (Ephesians Chapters 4 through 6)

The Mystery, Its Reality, The Practical SideSince The Mvstery is a body of many truths addressed to God's people (Col. 1:26), the practical side would of necessity have to do with the walk. "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him." (Col. 2:6) The instructions in this context are no less forthright: "Work out your own salvation (deliverance) for it is God who is energizing you to His purposes." (Phil. 2:12, 13 and 16).  The walk that is worthy begins in meekness and endeavors to keep (not create) the unity of the Spirit (Eph. 4:1-3). Thus, Faith-Obedience in the walk turns on seven distinct fundamental points of stewardship (Eph. 4:4-6). These seven points will be discussed at the end of this article.{C}{C}{C}{C}

Lest those, who having read this study may feel that they have been robbed of so much that is precious in the Word - so much from which they derive comfort and help, we would like to make it clear that while the various books and parts of the Scriptures are definitely ADDRESSED TO different companies of people at different times we MUST distinguish between; the interpretationand application of the Word.

Interpretation deals first with those to whom the passage of Scripture is addressed. When this has been settled we can then apply the passage to ourselves if this is consistent with truth revealed in this present age of grace, this is a legitimate application of Scripture.

The all sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice for sin (Acts 4:12; Hebrews 10:14) that salvation is by grace through faith in the completed work of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary's Cross (Ephesians 2:8-9). A recognition of who Christ is and His essential Deity, leads naturally to why God became manifest in the flesh and the need for His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary. We believe not only was that sacrifice absolutely necessary, but also that it was completely sufficient for our salvation. The essential facts are basically simple and logical.

After Trusting In Christ ...

If you are saved there would have been a time in your life when you trusted in the finished work of Christ on the cross at Calvary to save you from the consequence of sin. This simple act of faith marks the start of your Christian life and should not be under-rated. The preaching of the cross is of vital importance and so we must strive to present the gospel of salvation in clear and unequivocal terms.

Bayes' Rule

Scientific research seeks to make inference about population parameters from data. The way this is done is to gather data, and use it to test and investigate a particular theory. The theory will often be formulated in terms of parameters which are unknown and need to be estimated from the sample data. Of course scientists will have some prior belief about these parameters. The Bayesian view of statistics provides a paradigm that scientists can implement to establish their latest beliefs about the parameters of a model. If we allow theta to represent the parameters of interest then we can imagine that these parameters are the settings on a machine that produces x values (the data). That is x is made under the influence of theta. This is symbolized as x|theta (x given theta). This is theoretically what happens -- the truth is that we don't know the theta values, we only see their effects in x. So what we really need to do is infer from the data the values of theta from x -- that is theta|x (theta given x).
